How it works
Mariella Square is the one with corners — the same generous proportions as the round, squared off to sit flush against a wall or line up in a row. This steel top is a square rather than a ring, cut to sit inside it, with a central opening sized to take a standard Fomosa pot, so the plant sits at the right height from the start.
You don't pack the base with polystyrene, rubble or offcuts to lift the plant, and you don't have to dig any of it out again when the plant is changed. Bark chip fills around the Fomosa pot and over the top itself, so the steel disappears into the finished arrangement.
Size and proportion
The large square, and a floor planter — most plants from about 90cm to 140cm sit well in it.
Treat that as a styling guide rather than a rule. We work to roughly one-third planter to two-thirds plant, though the reverse and a straight 1:1 both read well — and a taller specimen in the same planter is a statement, not a mistake. Our pot and plant combinations show the range in practice.
Specification
- Material — Mild steel, powder-coated black, closely matched to the planter
- Shape — Square
- For — Artificial planting
- Fits — Mariella Square Large Mediterranean Black, a polyresin planter
Every top is powder-coated to the colour of the planter it belongs to, so this one is black. Once the bark chip goes over it, only the inner edge shows.
Completing the build
The top is sold on its own. To build the planter up you will also need:
- The planter — Mariella Square Large Mediterranean Black
- Plastic Black Fomosa Pot, 23 × 24cm, to hold the plant
- Bark chip, to finish over the top — as a guide, two 1kg bags for this size
- Your plant
Not sure which parts the planter you have takes? Send us the planter name and we will tell you.
Would rather it came ready-made? Our pot and plant combinations arrive complete — the right plant in the right planter, with everything needed to build what you see in the photograph.
