This steel top is a ring cut to sit inside it, with a central opening sized to take a standard Fomosa pot, so the plant sits at the right height from the start.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou don't pack the base with polystyrene, rubble or offcuts to lift the plant, and you don't have to dig any of it out again when the plant is changed. Bark chip fills around the Fomosa pot and over the top itself, so the steel disappears into the finished arrangement.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSize and proportion\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt 54cm this is the tallest Newport and the one that anchors a floor corner — it carries anything from about 110cm of plant upward, a 2.5m palm included.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTreat that as a styling guide rather than a rule. We work to roughly one-third planter to two-thirds plant, though the reverse and a straight 1:1 both read well — and a taller specimen in the same planter is a statement, not a mistake.
